Date: 13 August 1944 Target: Gun Positions.

Chronology
28 B-24's took off at 0932 to bomb GUN POSITIONS at Z-122888, Z-16889, Z-185869, Z-396918. None returned early. 7 dropped 16-3/4 tons on Z-122888, 7 dropped 17.0 tons on Z-168859, 7 dropped 17-1/2 tons on Z-185869, 7 dropped 17 tons on Z-396918 of 500 lb RDX (.1 and .025 fusing) at 1330 hours from 19,500 to 20,800 feet. 3 jettisoned 2-3/4 tons. 28 A/C returned to base at 1652 hours. None lost, none missing, and none at friendly fields. There were 28 effective sorties.

Route and Assault.
Rendezvoused with Wing over GROTTAGLIE Field on course at 1035 hours as last group in wing. From rendezvous proceeded to keypoint LIDO (4144N - 1216E) to turnpoint C. ROSSO (4214N - 0832E) to IP (4247N - 0640E) to targets with A-1 Box attacking on a heading of 305° True, A-2 Box attacking on a heading of 305° True, B-1 Box attacking on a heading of 307° True, and B-2 Box attacking on a heading of 337° True. The first three boxes rallied left, the last box rallying right and proceeding by reciprocal of route out back to base. The weather report showed clear weather practically entire route out except for a few (1/10) cumulus at low levels over CORSICA. Target area was absolutely clear and visibility was unrestricted. On return few cumulus still over CORSICA but 6-7/10 middle level clouds over S. ITALY at 8,000 feet. Base clear on return. No specific escort was provided by 15 P-51's were seen in target area at 1317 hours and left formation at 4240N - 0710E at 1355 hours. No radio jamming reported.

Results
Photos showed A-1's target was well hit with good concentration on aiming point; A-2's target was hit on south and by a few bursts remainder of pattern extending NE to shore; B-'s target had a good pattern of bursts on or near aiming point but smoke made plotting difficult; B-2's target was reported bisually as well hit but there was no photo coverage due to camera malfunctions.

Fighters. No E/A were sighted. Flak. There was no flak at target.
