The 16th Mississippi Soldiers Listed on Appomattox Paroles


     A condition of the surrender at Appomattox was the stipulation that the Confederates would provide a list of the surrendered soldiers. These soldiers were given paroles. The following names are extracted from the list contained in "The Appomattox Paroles, April 9-15, 1865."1

     The names of seventy-four members of the 16th Mississippi appear in the list of soldiers granted paroles at Appomattox.
